In the lower reaches of the river there are plenty of big bluenose bream hitting smelly baits, and some crabs are being potted as well. The upper reaches aren’t really worth fishing; there’s not much point in going past the ferry due to the dirty water.

Off the walls anglers are getting jewfish and tailor.

On the beaches there are tailor and bream, and if you go down a little bit further around broady beach there are some big winter whiting to be had.

The outside fishing has been good, with plenty of snapper on the closer reefs. The big southerly we had and the big seas brought them all in.

It’s a similar story off Evans Head; they’re getting snapper, mackerel pearlies and jew, all on closer reefs. As a bonus there are tuna around as well.
