07/10/05 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Oct 07, 2005 5:22 pm

Mandy at Dave’s Bait Shop says the reefs are fishing well for some nice snapper and the odd good pearlie.
Off the beaches, some nice bream are coming in along with whiting and dart.
Flathead around 2-3kg in the river in quite good numbers along with some varied sizes of bream. School jew at night from around the RSL Club and the Porpoise Wall. Whiting showing all the way to Wardell on bloodworms and the muddies have come on well in the creeks.

Off Evans Head there’s been a strong tide out wide but a few quite reasonable catches of small to medium snapper and some decent pearl perch have come in, along with some hits on the trag and the occasional jew. Some good knobbies still poking about as well. Bar is good.
The inshore water has been quite clear with the best action off the beaches early and late in the day in some rather nice-looking water. The whiting have been reasonable by all reports, although the dart have been pesky. Still some nice patches of bream. A couple of school jew off the headland this week. Flathead and whiting in the river.
