Report 30/9/16

It's been pretty rough offshore but the guys got out today and picked up a few snapper on the close reefs. There are some small ones on the 32s along with some parrot and flathead. There have been a couple of kings out wider on the 42s and 48s.

The beaches been pretty quiet. We've been hearing about a few whiting and bream and the odd tailor on the beaches, but that's about it.

Anglers have been getting some whiting and bream in north creek. Most of the flathead have been coming between the Burns Point ferry and Wardell Bridge. The fishing has been a bit better on the run-out tide because the water is a bit warmer.

A few mud crabs have started in both the creeks, and again, the run-out tide been a bit better for them.

Good numbers of bass are being taken between Woodburn and Lismore. Most have been falling to spinnerbaits and soft plastics, rather than surface lures, but it can still be worth throwing a surface lure early in the morning.
