Report 20/12/18

Out wide the marlin have really shown up -- stripes, blues and blacks. There are dollies out at the wave recorder and FAD, with the odd wahoo scattered amongst them.

As you move in around the lighthouse there are a lot of kingies and the odd snapper. The mackerel should start to show up soon on the lighthouse and the inshore reefs. They can be taken on live slimies or trolled Laser Pros or X-Raps.

There are still a few snaps about in close and a few trag with that moon coming back up, and a heap of pearlies as well.

On the beaches there are a few good tailor getting around, but not many reports of jewfish. Your best bet is to target dart, whiting, bream or flathead on the beaches.

We got a good bit of rain over the past few days so the bass have really fired up in the river. There's good fishing for mangrove jacks and whiting in the river as well. All three species are getting taken on topwater. Prawns are more common in summer, so it's a good idea to stick with lures that imitate a fleeing prawn (e.g. Sugapen) for all three species.
