A few spotted and Spanish mackerel around but the water temperature is yo-yoing from 19° to 24°. Not much action when it’s cold but good fun when you hit a warm patch. Small black marlin in close around the bait balls. Further down the bay wide off Urunga for cobia, kings and rat yellowfin. Mahi mahi around the traps and FADs and you never know when the baby blacks will be there, too. Wahoo from 6kg to 12kg also poking about.
Some good jacks in the creeks such as Deep, Pine and Moonee and good flathead as well. Soft and hard lures and live bait are all working. Some trevally along with some small three-spine queenfish are taking poppers thrown for the bream and trevors. Watch the belly spikes on those little queenies! Jew should fire this weekend off the beaches on the evening tides on squid and beach worms and the whiting have been doing well.
