Weekly Report 7/09/07

Nasty looking weather for the weekend with the postponement of the inaugural Dave Irvine Snapper Comp and the blessing of the fleet, both to dates to be announced. Prior to the blow, there were snapper in the shallows on plastics with pearl perch tagging along to make things interesting. Samson and kings in the deeper water with the usual rash of leatherjackets.
Beach gutters turning up heaps of salmon with a few bream and a couple of rather nice jewfish if you get the baits past the salmon.
Lower estuaries also have the salmon with a few flathead and bream. After this wet, the estuary mouths should be worth a spin for jew, tailor and, of course, salmon, as the fresh water pushes out the prawns and baitfish. Plenty of blackfish around the rocks especially in the protected corners.
