Weekly Report 9/8/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 09, 2013 3:02 pm

Weekend looks promising: Snapper will be active on the inshore reefs after the stir-up, which doesn’t seem to have been as big as forecast. My mate Luke got a 15kg samson last week on a plastic meant for a snapper and I’ve heard of others in close, too. Try the lighthouse reefs for small kings on plastics and jigs, with the odd better kingie. Out in 40 fathoms the jackets are patchy but some nice trag and pearlies make it worthwhile.
Around the headlands for quite a few school jew and a few reasonable tailor. When it was calm, the groper and drummer were good so try a protected corner, berley with bread and use cunje, yabbies or prawns.
Beaches have a few reasonable tailor and school jew. Salmon not in any numbers at all, unlike the past few years.
In the creeks and rivers, school jew around the bridges around the top of the tide and plenty of baitfish in there’s. Good flatties in the lower reaches
