Weekly Report 14/11/13

The bass became active before the recent rain, moving up towards the top of the rivers.

Offshore catches have been sporadic. There are snapper inshore and offshore but they’re spread out so you have to look around for them. Plastics are working well, and kayakers trolling hardbodies inshore are also catching their share. The best method, however, is to anchor, berley up and floatline for them – at least while they’re so spread out.

The Hot Current Game Fishing Tournament just ran, and it was hard going for the competitors this year. Hopefully the billfish action will start to improve soon.

The recent rain means the jew will be queuing up at all the estuary mouths, so there will be good fishing around the headlands near the river mouths.

In the estuaries all the fish are starting to warm up on the surface, so surface lures are the go for bream, whiting and flathead.
