We’ve been getting good runs of marlin which has been a big eye-opener for everyone. There’s the odd wahoo amongst them, and the mahi mahi (dolphinfish) are everywhere. There are also kingfish all around the islands. Recent weeks have seen some quality fish landed, with specimens ranging up to 1.2m and 10kg-plus.

The mulloway have shut down a bit. It’s harder to find them but you may still get the occasional one if you’re determined.

We’re seeing good catches of flatties and whiting in the river on surface lures. The hot currents have brought surface-feeding baitfish, and the predators are close behind.

With all the cicadas around, lots of anglers are using cicada imitations. They’re catching good numbers of bream, bass and whiting.

Finally, the snapper are starting to show up again. They’re coming in a bit closer and in better sizes.
