Weekly Report 13/02/14

Good runs of Spanish are still getting through with spotties mixed in. We’ve had some dirty water of late but that should clear up when the southerlies kick in.

Snapper are doing well, with plenty of catches of fish around the 4-5kg mark. They have been pretty consistent this summer which is great.

The run of good marlin continues; each week we hear of 2-3 blacks being caught. We haven’t seen too many yellowfin tuna but they should start to slowly turn up over the next month or so.

There are lots of bonito around, and they’re great fun to catch when things are quiet. Obviously their oily, bloody flesh means they make excellent bait.

In the rivers we’re seeing big runs of flathead and whiting as well.

Tailor and salmon have been pretty dry, but plenty of bream are coming into the gutters. Lots of blokes are getting quality specimens to 1.5kg.
