Report 25/07/14

Salmon and tailor are in full swing. They’re cruising and down the beaches and around the headlands. Most are 1-3kg, with the odd 4-5kg fish.

Plenty of snapper are getting around all the shallow reefs, and people are catching them jigging along with pearl perch. The summer reef species have died down (emperors etc.)

At the moment snapper can be caught off the stones and around the headlands, and anglers are even getting a few off the beach. Most of the fish off the stones are around 1.5kg, with the odd bigger fish to 5kg.

Off the beaches there are plenty of good bream to 1.5kg.

There’s nothing to report out wide due to the high winds we’ve had. We might have a shot this weekend though.

Mulloway are mingling around the headlands and plenty are getting caught. Fish up to 13kg have been getting caught over the last week; one of my colleagues got a 9kg one last night. I got a couple on Monday night, right on the top of the tide off one of the break walls. They were 8kg and 9kg and both were caught on Ripple Shads.
