Report 8/12/14

Post by subeditor » Mon Dec 08, 2014 11:29 am

Beaches

Weather is still playing a big role in getting out to the sand of late due to the high winds and rainfall across Northern NSW. The beaches are holding good numbers of Whiting and Bream. The odd tailor about but no great size or numbers. Jewfish have been patchy but picking the turn of the tides should get you in with a shot. Baits working well are white bait, Tailor, Bonito, Worms and nippers.
Rivers

Rivers should be firing well after the rain, bait fish move following the salt so finding this point where the fresh meets the salt is always a great starting point. Bream and Whiting have been feeding well on the top of the tides with great reports of Flathead about on the out going. Fresh Nippers are always a great option when chasing these predators and can be quite entertaining with kids with a pump, bucket and a sieve it can be great day spent out on the water. If it all seems to much pop down to Fishing Tackle Australia and we have bags of fresh nippers ready to go with many other great baits to sort out any fishing trip.

Outside

With the warm currents starting to trickles the Marlin and Mahi Mahi have been the first to show there faces not the huge numbers but reports are looking good up north and it seems we might be in for another great game fishing season. Big Kingfish have been in water from 50m-30m good numbers have been found in but the size of these fish seem to be a lot smaller. Snapper have been patchy to say the least this year the reports i have heard around have been mostly from the kayak front in close, fishing plastics lightly weighted on the turn of the tides in low light periods and there has been some good results.

Till next time, tight lines.

Kane Fairchild.
