Report 19/2/16

Starting offshore, mackerel have been in god numbers in close, with both Spanish and spotties coming over the gunwales. Live slimies and stickbaits have been the winners, particularly on the tide changes.
Out wider, there's still a few marlin, and also the odd dolly to fill in the gaps between marlin bites.
Back closer to chore, snapper, as usual, have been going great guns with a few good fish to 6kg taken just last week.

In the rivers, bream, whiting and flatties are on most peoples' hitlist, and a variety of baits and lures have been working. The bream are still feeding in shallow, an the flathead action is getting better each week.

beaches and headlands have been showing good promise lately, an the good swell has brought in some good jewies to the headland washes.
Off the stones, you're always a chance of a mack if you throw stickbaits, and longtail tuna have been caught this way too.

Up in the fresh, bass have been smashing surface lures like mad, particularly on night fall.
In the high country, there's been a bit of a lull in trout action, which would pick up if we got some good rain.
