Outside it has been a bit patchy. Few marlin out to sea, but most people are targeting mackerel rather than billfish. The water is warm, so pelagics like mackerel are still around, but not in huge numbers. People have been getting a few spotties and pearlies on the slightly wider grounds, but nothing to write home about. Inshore it’s been a bit sporadic as well.

Freshwater-wise, I got a few trout last week but it’s getting tough to catch them. Bass have been starting to move a bit down the rivers with the low water as the weather cools.

Rivers haven’t been hugely special but there are a few whiting about around the mouths in the clearer water. Live yabbies have been working the best.

Not many flatties have been caught lately but a few good bream are being caught a little bit further up. We’ve had success throwing smaller hardbodies like Atomic Bream Shads. In the murkier brackish water we’ve been using slightly darker colours.
