There have been good catches of snapper in close over the shallower reefs, and a few pearlies around too.

Offshore, the marlin boys have raised a few out wide off the shelf but not a lot. There are good numbers of dollies out at the FAD. There are also sizable kingfish out at the Lighthouse. Most have been taken on on knife jigs and live bait; the surface action hasn't hotted up.

Off the rocks we're seeing a lot of bream and blackfish. The tailor have been pretty poor this year, with the action being patchy at best. There are a few good jewies getting around but not a great number. The beaches have been fishing similar to the rocks, with a few good whiting around as well.

Up the rivers, flathead have been the real standout species. Lately the boys have been doing well at the river mouth and even a bit further up. There has also been good fishing for jewies on plastics.

Further upriver, bass season starts this weekend as the fish move into the freshwater after spawning.
