Beaches: Strong winds and big seas have played havoc with the fishing but beach gutters are now turning up respectable catches of bream, tailor and jewfish. But you’ll need to look for a gutter carrying patches of baitfish. Look for working birds or give each gutter a cast or two and if unsuccessful, move on.
Offshore has been very ordinary with most snapper this week coming in from land-based anglers. Wooloolga Headland was the venue for the week’s best of 6.9kg for a local angler.
Estuaries turning up good bream and whiting on the rising tide, with some reasonable flathead on the ebb tide.
