Overall the fishing has been patchy. Out wide the game boys have been getting the odd dolly around the FAD, but there's not a whole lot going on. The kingies have been patchy, but some good sized fish have come from around the lighthouse. Snapper and pearlies have been coming from the deeper water around 60-80.

There are plenty of bream around the washes but they're starting to quiet down at the end of their spawning run. Everything else off the rocks has been hit-and-miss.
A couple of jewies have been caught, but not many. It's that weird crossover part of the year when things are patchy.

On the beaches anglers are getting a few whiting and bream on smaller baits. Those anglers who really put in the time and effort have been getting jewies in the deeper holes, but there's a lot of water between them.

We're seeing few flatties up some of the creeks, hanging around a little bit up past the mouth. However, for most anglers fishing the rivers and creeks, it's all about bass. Everybody is bass mad! You can get really good catches if you find those spots where they're holed up, with a little bit of rain to wake them up. Comparatively few are being taken on surface lures; most fish are being taken on spinnerbaits, divers and plastics. Up around Grafton is a standout bass location at the moment. It has been fishing really well in recent weeks, but after rain they're a bit harder to find. There haven't been heaps of big ones, but there have been a couple of 50cm+ models. Some of the standout lures have been Sebile Flatt Shads, Cutting Edge Tomahawks, and Normans.

Trout season opens this weekend, and it will be interesting to see how it pans out. It looks as though it will be warm and calm with a few bugs about, and the trout should be hungry after spawning.
