Report 6/10/17

Post by subeditor » Fri Oct 06, 2017 2:17 pm

Off Coffs, there hasn't been any marlin caught yet, although there has been few blues seen off Yamba, so they should be coming soon.
meanwhile, the striped tuna have been in good numbers, but not much else is happening on the pelagic scene yet
Around the islands, there have been few kings and snapper, mainly for those throwing plastics.
In real close, there's not much, there's a few snapper, but overall it's slow fishing.

The headlands and beaches have seen a few jew, no monsters, mostly around 10kg range. A couple of tailor have been landed, but no huge numbers.

In the creeks, flatties have been going strong all up and down systems.
For those after school jew, there's been a fair few schoolies in deep holes, you just need to find them.
A couple of jacks have been caught, but the season is only just starting, and the water is still a bit cool.
Bream are still going steady, with a few decent ones caught, but most are around that usual 20-30cm size range.

In the fresh, estuary perch and bass have been taken, and the dry weathe was making them hungry, with good fish eating topwater. Now that we've had this rain, the freshwater has cooled the water temp, and as a result they're not feeding as hard. This will change soon.
Further up the systems and over the mountains, the trout haven't taken off yet, but the report will start filtering in soon.
