Get your mackerel gear dusted and ready to go because the early fish have been off Grassy in about 24 degrees water over the last two weeks. This week one fisho had 3 or 4 runs and boated 1 good Spottie along with a small Black Marlin in close. There's not a lot yet but good signs for a great season over the next few months. There are still a few snapper and pearlies off the bottom out of the same area. Local Richard Gilham and his son fished wide off the jail for a good Marlin around the 180 mark and a Wahoo in pristine water conditions. The FAD is back in its location after it broke its mooring a few weeks ago so give it 2 or 3 weeks to get some structure and we might have some Dollies around it. Fish Rock and Green Island has had some nice Kings coming in among a heap off Rats. Sharks are in good numbers already off our part of the world.

The river is fishing well for Flathead on lures and plastics on the run out tide when you get some colour in the water. There are some good Bream along the Break wall but in the clear water they are very finicky. GTs are around Jerseyville for a bit of fun on light gear. You should get some Whiting and Flathead out of the same area.

Rockhopper are hooking some small Cobia and Kings off the ledges in good water. Off the Beaches Whiting are in fair numbers with Bream and Dart in the mix. Smoky beach is your best bet for a feed out of the surf.

Take care on the bars
