Report 25/5/18

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri May 25, 2018 8:58 am

There was a little swell about through the week but the water conditions have been sensational. Good catches of Snapper have come in from Grassy up to Nambucca with some oversize Pearl Perch in the bag. These fish being caught at the moment are in water from 20m to 60m deep. A few boats targeted Mackerel with just a few caught, some down deeper on bottom rigs. On the reefs off the Jail Snapper, Mowies and Jew Fish are in fair numbers. Fish Rock has been producing good King Fish well over legal. In around 100 meters there has been some quality Cod.

There has been Tailor in the river up to a kilo around the Boat Shed on the high tide early morning. Through the week the river has produced some honking Bream with a few over 1 kilo cleaned. Flathead are in numbers but best results were out of boats in the creeks and inlets. There were a few nice Jewfish caught off the Breakwall both north and south sides with live baits and frozen arrow Squid. They are around the 6 to 8 kilo mark, perfect table fish. Fisho’s upriver are telling me there are still some good Whiting coming in from Jerseyville to Smithtown using Worms and Nippers.

On the beaches, Back Beach has some nice Flathead and Whiting near the Creek mouth while on Main Beach there has been the odd Tailor off the Boulders. Smoky Beach has plenty of Dart with Whiting and Bream. The Tailor have been a little slow through the week but they will be back.

We have 90 kilos of pristine fresh Sea Garfish in stock now, bagged in 1 kilo lots but be quick they won’t last long.
