Report 22/6/18

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jun 22, 2018 9:15 am

It’s another week interrupted by some fairly ordinary weather. For the land based fisho’s we are in the middle of a great Tailor and Bream season, both in the river and off the rocks and beaches. Blue water guys are getting nice Snapper and Pearl Perch off the northern reefs with a few Mackerel still off Grassy. Out on the wide grounds Cod are in numbers past the 100 meter marks. In front of the Jail there has been the odd Jewfish and Tuna coming in. As I mentioned Tailor are in numbers along our part of the coast with fish around 3 kilo common on the troll in close. Green Island is holding good Bream around it while Fish Rock is yet to fire up with just a few Kings reported.

Bream to 1 kilo off the Break Wall biting on nearly anything at the moment. There were a few smaller Jewfish out of the same area through the week but there is a lot of water between them. Flathead are still in numbers up river taking plastics or hard bodies. Through the Cut up to the Oyster racks Bream are making their way up with some nice fish caught around Rainbow.

On the beaches Tailor and Bream are off Smoky and Gap with Raiders and Slugs doing the trick on those tasty toothy critters. On the fuller tides Back Beach has produced Tailor and some nice Flathead towards the river entrance. Off the rocks Drummer, Blackfish, Bream and Tailor will keep you occupied and well fed.
