How good is it to see some rain, it will be a massive help to our river system. Outside fishing picked up last week with some nice catches of Snapper and Pearl Perch off Grassy and Scotts but you needed to get out a little in 60 plus meters. There were good reports of Bar Cod from about 90 meters as well. Off the Jail kayakers got amongst plenty of Flathead in close while out wider Mowies were in numbers with the odd Snapper. Fish Rock had some big Kings around it through the week with a group of guys having success with knife jigs.

Rock hoppers were into a few Jewfish and some fair Kings off the ledges between the Jail and the Lighthouse. Drummer, Bream and Tailor were also in the bags.

Beaches were a little quite through the week. Smoky beach fisho’s battled to lose a bait early in the week but improved towards the weekend with some nice Bream and Whiting in the mix.

Most boats on the river last week managed to find a flathead or two but hunting that legal Bream has been tough. There has been a few Whiting up river which is a good sign for the summer season. We had a Blackfish bite through the week with some late crackers caught. There is a bit of color coming down so hopefully I will report a few big Jewfish next week.
