Reports 9/8/19

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Aug 09, 2019 1:50 pm

Westerly winds over the weekend made the conditions tough on the water but fishable at least. Most fisho’s struggled through the week for a feed with a few Snapper in close with a Pearlie or two in the mix, up and around Grassy Head. There are loads of Bait Fish up off the northern reefs which got the attention of a lonely Marlin hooked for a short time by one of our local Charter Boats. Off the Jail it has been the same story where the fish were hard to come by. There were a few more out on the wider grounds but then you are in the center lane of the big schools of Leather Jackets.

King Fish again were around Fish Rock and Green Island in good numbers. Black Rock produced some nice Snapper through the week.

Luderick were on the bite again along our Breakwalls, no one is bagging out but certainly enough were caught to keep everybody happy. Bream numbers have slowed but still there are quality fish to be caught. The odd Flathead have been about, find the drop offs there will be one or two laying there. There were a few nice Jew Fish pulled out of the river with the best reported 15 kilo. Pike seem to be doing the trick on these majestic fish. If you want to donate your Jewfish frames to us we will forward them on to fisheries for their ongoing studies on this species.

Smoky and Gap beach produced the odd Tailor early morning with some quality Bream and a few Flathead. Main Beach also fished well for Bream and small Whiting on the full tides. The Rock Hoppers faced a bigger sea for a few King Fish, Drummer, Bream and Tarwhine.
