4/8/06 Weekly report

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 04, 2006 6:49 pm

It was a good week on the water last week with good catches outside and inshore.
Blue-water fishos cleaned up on pearl perch around the 60m mark up and down the coast. Good snapper off Grassy and Scotts as well as off Fish Rock. Leatherjackets are still there in good numbers past 50m. There have been a few kingfish around Fish Rock while there are heaps of flathead on the sand in front of the lighthouse.
Finally some nice tailor have been caught off the rocks. Some fish are around the 3 to 4 kilos. Bream are also on the bite off most ledges.
The beaches appear to have benefited from the big seas with improved catches of tailor, bream and salmon, especially off Smoky Beach.
Our river has had a heap of traffic for a couple days over the last week with the NSWFCA championship estuary section. Plenty of bream, tailor and blackfish have been caught with the odd jewfish being weighed in. The blackfish guys are saying the numbers are better but the fish are smaller.
