Almost perfect conditions last week saw a return of the Mackerel off Grassy and off the Jail. Spanish up to 24 kilo were caught with good numbers of Spotted Mackerel up north in 23 to 24 degrees water. The Spotties are not big fish at the moment but at least they are still here. Bluefin Tuna are everywhere from Nambucca down to Hat Head with some big mac tuna amongst them. Snapper and Pearl Perch are on the bite off Grassy as well with Tuskies and Trag coming off the bottom. Off the Jail Spanish, Spotties, and the odd Wahoo on the surface with Jews and Snapper off the bottom. The live bait situation improved through the week with slimies easier to find.

Rock Hoppers are happy with a great run of Tailor coming through along with Tuna and Kings off the ledges from the lighthouse to Hat Head. Good numbers of Drummer, Luderick and Trevally are showing up as well.

Smoky and Gap beach are producing Tailor, Bream and Whiting in good numbers out of the surf.

There are some cracker fish in the river at the moment. Flathead up to 80cm have been reported all week. Most are being caught down river towards the mouth. The odd Jewfish has been caught with plenty of Quality Bream along the walls. Jerseyville is still dirty with one or two Flathead being reported while further up river to Smithtown fishing has been slow.
