You have to be fed up with these August winds. Only a few fishos ventured outside because of the mongrel conditions.
All the action was in the river this week with daily reports of nice jewfish coming in every night or early morning. Father and son team Peter and Teegan White from Tamworth over a couple of days caught four Jewfish from 14 kilos to 15.8 kilos and I think the young fella might have pipped Dad for the biggest fish. Blackfish are still on the bite with the average about 700gt. Bream are working on the breakwall with specimens over a kilo. Flathead have been on the bite on plastics around Gladstone and Smithtown.
Off the rocks tailor are about in small numbers along with some salmon. Bream have been in front of the Jail.
Beach fishing has been very slow on all beaches around town apart from the odd tailor and salmon.
Not many reports from outside due to the conditions but some of the charter boats ventured out. Apart from a couple of snapper and pearl perch, the ocean was full of leatherjackets, some up to 65cm. Rocks In Line seem to be the hot spot in about 70m if these are the fish you want to chase.
