25/8/06 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 25, 2006 5:48 pm

Another perfect week of calm conditions and great weather has seen plenty of fishos out on the water.
If you are heading outside snapper up to 5 kilo have been reported in about 60m off Scotts Head. Thumper pearl perch are also coming in from the same location. There are still heaps of leatherjackets out there to catch – if you want them. Fish Rock has reasonable kingfish around it. There are a few guys hunting marlin this week after last week’s report so I will advise next week on how they went.
Blackfish were really on the bite last week, not as big as they were at the start of the season but still nice fish. Bream are about along the walls and on the oyster racks. Pilchards have been popular bait on these fish over the last week. Flathead are about in good numbers with Col Bradbrook landing a nice 3.9 kilo unit.
Whiting are making a return to the beaches along with some bream on live worms while the odd tailor and salmon taking pilchards in the surf.
Don’t forget if you are looking for ideas for Father’s Day we have gift vouchers.
