As we say good bye to all our Easter holiday makers sadly they are leaving the fish on one of the best Pelagic bites for a quite a while. Grassy Head has been holding consistent numbers of Spotted Mackerel while Scotts has been giving up some nice Spanish and Spots. Long Tail Tuna are still in good numbers while on the bottom Pearl Perch, Snapper and Tuskies are coming in. Out on front of the Jail Wahoo continue to chase the skirts and trolled hard body lures maybe not in the numbers we had a few weeks ago but good quality fish anyway. There has been a few Spanish and Tuna out of that location as well. Out at the FAD, Dolphin Fish are about in pristine water. Down south there have been a few Kings off Fish Rock and the odd Cobia, one reported around the 30kilo mark.

It is a great time of the year for Beach Fishing with Smoky Beach producing Tailor, Bream and Whiting while Gap has some nice Bream and Tailor out of the north corner. Main Beach has a few Bream and the odd Whiting. Rock Hoppers are getting Tuna, Tailor and some early season Drummer.
Our river system is a little fickle at the moment with plenty of smaller Bream along the walls. Flathead are a little hard to find land based but some nice fish have been around Jerseyville, Clybucca and Rainbow. Herring are in good numbers for live bait or Mullet, Pilchards or Prawns with do the trick. There has been the odd Schoolie about but no reports of any trophy fish. There are sprinklings of Luderick being caught in the still warm water but it looks good for a big winter season.
