Weekly Report 25/11/06

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 24, 2006 11:54 am

There are heaps of frustrated fishos around here – the fish are out there but, as usual, the wind has put the brakes on our adventures.
Outside guys have had only about a day and a half to wet a line in fair conditions for good mahi mahi on the FAD. Fish Rock and Black Rock have kingfish, snapper and jewfish. Some good snapper have been off the peak in front of the Jail while Grassy has a few snapper coming in.
The beaches have been uncomfortable to fish but whiting are on Smoky Beach with some nice bream as well. Front and Back beaches also have whiting. It’s still hard to get a feed off the rocks apart from the bonito and small mac tuna that are about.
The river has been OK with most fishos getting a feed. Good flathead are about with the best location for land-based fishos being from the boatshed up to the rescue boats. Live herring are doing the trick with the big lizards. Whiting are all over the river but a lot are undersize at this stage. Big bream have been tough to find around the walls and racks. A few reports of small jew coming in as well.
