Weekly Report 15/12/06

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:14 pm

It’s starting to hot up outside. Not only the water temperature but the fish are starting to appear a little more active. There were better reports from Fish Rock with the odd bigger than legal king being hooked south of the rock along with some quality snapper and mack tuna in close. Mahi mahi are again on the bite out at the FAD but the current is still an issue. Big samson fish have been between Scotts and Nambucca while there are snapper and pearlies off Grassy. There have been scattered reports of marlin out wide but no confirmation of hook-ups.
Fishos are struggling in the river, there are plenty of small bream and whiting and flathead are about on fish baits like mullet, herring and pilchard. A few jews are about at night and the odd small cobia and fork tail cat fish.
The beaches are OK with whiting and bream on Smoky. Back Beach is the pick for whiting on live worms while the rockhoppers are getting some bream, small kings and tuna towards the lighthouse.
Searching for that last-minute Christmas gift? Come in and have a look at our extensive range or if you can’t choose, we have gift vouchers.
