Weekly Report 27/12/07

Post by Tony Zann » Wed Dec 27, 2006 9:43 am

The weather hasn’t really been kind to us over Christmas with the best yet to come.
The good news is there are fish out there with plenty of reports of marlin in around the 11-fathom mark. Dave from Queensland hooked his marlin on a red head Rapala CD18. Most fish at this stage are around the 30-40 kilo mark. Local Richard Strelitz hooked his first sailfish, around 40kg, in close off the Jail on his Calcutta 400 on a live slimy. Fish Rock has been producing good fish with some nice kings and a few snapper. Live bait is not a problem at this stage with plenty around.
Whiting are on all the beaches taking live worms and pipis. Smoky Beach has the odd bream and big dart coming in with fair whiting. Little Bay is fishing well for whiting and bream. Back Beach up around the breakwall is fishing well.
The river is producing whiting and bream along the breakwalls and around the oyster leases while flathead are about on the flats towards Stuarts Point, Jerseyville and Spencers Creek. Good fish are coming in around Smithtown and Kinchela and if you are into bass fishing, Green Hills towards Turners Flat is the place to be.
