Weekly Report 1/2/2007

A much more promising week had by all with good numbers of Black Marlin hook ups, averaging around the 30 to 40 kilo mark. Both skirts and live slimies are working on these fish. The water temp is hovering around the 22 to 25 degree mark so the Pelagics are active off the jail grounds. Livies are tough to get at the buoys but there’s plenty out at the 11 fathom mark.
Cobia hook ups are becoming more common out of the same location. Spotties are doing what they do best, that’s frustrating the fishos with their spasmodic appearance but when there on they are good fish. Dolphin fish are hard to find with the current out wide at the FAD roaring through there. Fish Rock has some King Fish and Mac Tuna around it. There were a few Yellow Fin caught this week in close and out wide.
In the river Flathead are the species to target with some crackers coming in. Berkley plastics are working really well along with the Black and Gold Squidgys, Mullet, live Herring and Prawns will also do the trick. Bream and Whiting are also on the bite.
Fishing the beaches should get you Whiting in the gutters of Smoky beach and Little Bay.
Check your safety gear and take care on the Bars
