Weekly Report 23/02/07

There has been a late run of small black marlin this week with some better numbers showing up as the water cools a little. Cobia are coming in with good numbers off Black Rock and the jail, most are around 10kg with the odd 25kg-plus fish among them. Fish Rock has some kings and the odd snapper and mac tuna. Yellowfin are here in good numbers, taking small skirts and hard minnows. Spotted mackerel have been tough to get on the bite off Grassy. The bottom bouncers off Grassy and Scotts had a better week with some nice snapper, trag and pearlies.
You can still get a feed of whiting off Smoky beach along with the odd summer tailor, while Gap Beach has whiting and bream.
Bonito are in the river at the moment, great fun on light gear and fantastic bait. There have been a few jew and cobia caught off the breakwall over the last week but it’s a little tough to get live bait to give them a go. Flathead is still the fish to target with some great fish coming in. Bream and whiting are on the bite with live worms the bait to use.
Come in and check out our exciting new range of Jackall bream and bass lures now in stock.
