Weekly Report 2/3/07

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Mar 02, 2007 2:22 pm

A couple of days of poor conditions have added to the frustration. Marlin are off the bite again this week with only a few reported. Yellowfin are about, taking small skirts and bibless lures. Fish Rock is producing good kingfish, best reported 16kg, along with the odd wahoo. Cobia are being caught with Black Rock possibly the best location or a drift in front of the Jail. Spotties have been hard to find but the ones coming in are good quality. Bottom-bashers are struggling at the moment with only a few reef fish reported. Live bait has been no problem.
Smoky Beach is fishing well for whiting in the gutters on live worms or pipis. Tailor have made an appearance with the bite at first light. Off the rocks cast some garfish or pilchards for tailor and bream and there have been reports of a few jew off the Lighthouse.
Finding a decent bream in the river is difficult, let’s hope we get some dirty water with the rain. Small cobia are feeding off the breakwall taking herring or mullet. We have had some whispers that there are bream and flathead around Smithtown.
Come in and check out our new range of bibless lures and the very effective Rapala XRMag 30’ lures
