Weekly Report 22/06/07

With the big blow slowly getting back to normal the conditions were a little more comfortable offshore apart from a fair joggle. Good Samson fish up to 15kg are coming in up off the northern reefs along with some nice venus tusk fish while the charter boats around the same area hooked some nice jewfish. Leatherjackets are thick around the 60m mark but the current is ripping through at the moment. Fish Rock has been a little quiet with rat kingfish and the odd snapper around it. Green Island has some cracker bream in close with good tailor on the troll around the island.
Rockhoppers are doing well with some great over a kilo. There have been plenty of tailor of the rocks taking garfish, pilchards and metal spinners. These fish are working all the way down to Hat Head.
Beach fishermen are also amongst the fish with plenty of good tailor and bream coming in off most beaches while reports of whiting on Smoky have come in all week.
Blackfish are on the bite along the north and south walls with kilo fish not uncommon. Weed is still hard to find but we have some in stock at the moment. Roger Price used pilchards to hook a ripper 1.210kg bream last week, one of quiet a few around the kilo mark. The oyster leases are working well for bream on plastics as well as live worms and nippers. The boatshed and off the cleaning tables are fishing well for bream and flathead are still around the rescue boats and towards the tavern.
We have discounted selected Shimano winter clothing now on sale.
