Weekly Report 24/08/07

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Aug 23, 2007 4:03 pm

It has been difficult to get reports this week due to horrible weather and sea conditions. The rain has created some nice dirty water that should put the fish on the bite.
With the coloured water the blackfish have slowed down a little but the jewie fishos should be in their element, eager to bring out their favourite Lures. There have been some good bream coming out of the river off the breakwall and they should improve as the water settles down. There have been some nice flathead around Clybucca and working the flats up towards Stuarts Point.
Rockhoppers have found the going tough with the bigger seas. Tailor have slowed down but there’s been some reasonable bream coming in along the ledges.
Beach fishos have been getting monster salmon along Smoky Beach some up to 5 kilo. Where still waiting for someone to give us a recipe to make these things edible. Still the odd tailor coming in along with the odd bream and whiting.
Only a hand full of guys ventured out last week with Fish Rock giving up a few snapper and kingfish. Fishos are having some success on the reefs off Nambucca for snapper and pearlies while no one has gone wide for the leatherjackets. Fishing the dirty current line where it meets the blue water usually fires up, it’s worth a try when the conditions improve.
