Weekly Report 26/10/07

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Oct 26, 2007 1:01 pm

Let’s hope a couple days of good rain last week will put the fish on the bite in the river, where it has been a little tough to hook up.
Flathead are still the fish to target if you are fishing the river and as the water warms it will only get better. Whiting are starting to run in the shallower water biting on nippers and live worms while good bream are rare. Jewfish are about with a few reported over the week.
Rockhoppers have battled all week for only a few bream and salmon. If you’re heading to fish the beaches Smoky has been fishing well for good whiting along the beach with the odd bream, while monster salmon are there to test your tackle. Whiting are on the Front and Back beaches but not in big numbers.
The fishing outside has been very productive over the last week with snapper going off in about 30m off Grassy. While the current has slowed, floating baits down has been really successful. There were good reports from Fish Rock again last week with good kings and snapper coming in. While these fish are about have a go with the plastic baits and if you’re not sure which ones to ones to use, come in and we will show you what’s working.
