Weekly Report 22/11/07

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Nov 22, 2007 2:49 pm

We have some warm water finally, with the FAD producing some mahi mahi with one monster bull during the week. Fish Rock has been fishing well for kings with plenty around 4kg to 6kg along with a few reports of bust-ups. Small snapper have been coming in as well. Grassy has been quiet with better fish coming in out wider around the 100m marks, particularly big pearl perch and snapper.
If you want a feed of whiting Smoky Beach is the place to be. Fishos have been cleaning up with live worms in the shallow water. There has been some bream on the beaches with Gap Beach the best. There’s still the odd salmon out of the surf. Rock fishos are still waiting for it to happen with only a few bream, tuna and drummer.
The river has been producing good whiting in the shallows on worms and nippers. Bream are about along the walls with the better fish around first light. Good flathead have been caught all week with the Clybucca reaches giving up some big lizards. Flounder have been around the same location.
Thanks to all who emailed Mark and me with their Fish Rock closure protest, the good news is there will be no change to the existing zone regulations for rec fishers around Fish Rock and Green Island.
