Weekly Report 30/11/07

Good fishing on the beaches now, just in time for the holiday visitors. Reports from Gap Beach of nice bream and dart, while on Smoky Beach there’s enough whiting to keep everyone happy with the odd bream and flathead. Local beaches are producing whiting with a lot of throwbacks. Straggler salmon also coming in.
If you fished the river over the last week you shouldn’t have had a problem getting a feed. Bream have been feeding along the North and South walls with some good fish among them. Whiting are there to be caught out of the shallow water. The fishos using Rebel clear poppers are raving bout its success. Flathead are around in good numbers with the bigger ones suckers for live bait. There are some good fish up towards Smithtown with some dirty water slowly making its way down. Small cobia up to about a metre long have been landed off the breakwall.
Snapper were on the bite off Scotts Head and there are still bigger pearl perch and snapper out wider in the deeper water. Mahi mahi are around the FAD working well with lures or floating pilchard baits. Fish Rock slowed up a little last week with small kings and the odd keeper snapper. Out wider around Rocks in Line is producing good fish.
