Weekly report 18/12/07

Welcome to all our holidaymakers, we hope you’re relaxing as well catching a few fish for the table.
The river is fishing well for bream along the breakwall with the odd kilo fish coming in. Clybucca has been a hot spot for bream and whiting around the oysters. Heading through the Cut towards Stuarts Point, whiting are on the bite mid-tide with some crackers amongst them. Good flathead are off the flats around Spencers Creek and Jerseyville. No reports of jewfish at this stage even though we still have some dirty water.
If beach fishing is your go Smoky Beach is your best bet with plenty of whiting coming in out of the shallow water while bream have been around in smaller numbers out of the gutters. Gap Beach has whiting while there has been the odd flathead on the north end of the beach. Front and Back beaches have had whiting but there are plenty of throwbacks amongst them.
Fish Rock is inundated with rat kingfish but there is the odd good one in the masses. Reports from one of our visitors is that the metal jigs are working well. A few fishos fished the FAD for a few dollies but the conditions were tough that far out. The reefs up north are worth a try for snapper with the morning the peak time if you are using plastic baits. Some quality pearl perch are out a little wider.
