23/9/2005 - Weekly Report

Post by fishingmonthly » Fri Sep 23, 2005 4:55 pm

The Blackfish have gone for this season apart from a few stragglers feeding on cabbage rather than weed. Flathead are eager to take a bait at the moment with some nice ones coming in. Monster bream are about in the river with locals Ray Thompson and Mark Rush getting among them up to .945kg. Salmon are still around the end of the breakwall along with the chance of a jew along the north and south walls on a run-out tide.

Beach fishing has been only fair over the last few weeks with Smoky Beach giving up some bream, salmon and a few whiting. Gap Beach has been quiet apart from the odd bream. Still on Gap Beach the north and south tracks down to the beach have been graded with great results.
There were a few reports of tailor this week; one was off the Boulders in front of the surf club and the other out of The Gutter down from the Jail. Bream are also about with salmon and dart off the rocks all the way down to the Lighthouse.

There have been some great fish coming in from outside. Dave Turner and Peter Priestly fished Grassy for couple of monster snapper going 8.1kilo and 5.1kilo. Les Palmer fished the same location for some venus tusk fish, good morwong and pigfish. There are some good bar cod out wide but conditions were a little bumpy and uncomfortable. The kingfish are not playing the game at Fish Rock at the moment.

Don’t forget if you are looking for a new marine radio we have GME 27mhz for only $150. Watch the bars and check your safety gear.
