8/12/05 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Dec 08, 2005 5:07 pm

Quite a few fishos took advantage of the break in the weather and got outside for some nice fish. There has been a fair bit of action around the FAD with nice mahi mahi and pearl perch when the current wasn’t ripping through. Some snapper have been on the reefs around Grassy Head with some bigger ones coming in. Fish Rock is still loaded with rat kingfish with the odd small snapper. There have been plenty of marlin sighted while the charter boat Sea Scout hooked a 40kg black two miles from the river mouth.
Flathead are still on the bite in the river and at the moment the colour of the water is perfect for these. Good bream have been around the river boat ramp late afternoon and into the night. Off the breakwalls you will find nice bream and flathead. Up towards Kinchela, whiting have been plentiful although there are a heap of smaller ones to annoy you.
Smoky Beach is fishing well for whiting. There have also been a lot of dart around to keep you busy. There is a fair bit of fine weed or slime off Smoky that sticks to your line – hopefully a wind change will get rid of it. Gap Beach has whiting and bream with the best baits live worms and pipis. Back Beach has whiting, bream and the odd flathead.
We still have a few GME 27mhz marine radios at only $150.
Watch the bars and check your safety gear.
