Weekly Report 19/9/08

Luderick fishos are hanging their gear on the wall for another season with only one or two caught last week but the good news is that bream are along the walls to take their place. The river is clearing up after the rain and producing good results. There have been some nice flathead starting to show up down along towards the boatshed, the flats up to Stuarts Point and Jerseyville. The Kempsey Bass Club conducted their annual Bass Catch last week with some great results and good numbers of healthy bass from Frederickton up to Temagog.
Rockhoppers are still pulling in some good tailor off the ledges with groper and some big drummer. Hat Head has been fishing well just in time for the holidays. Smoky Beach is producing bream, tailor and salmon with some whiting starting to show up along the beach. There is a part of the beach washed away so if you’re travelling along to Hat Head you need to watch the tides. Back Beach has had a few salmon while Front Beach is fishing well for bream around the boulders.
Fishos struggled last week off the northern reefs with the snapper going off the bite. Pearl perch around 2kg are being caught out of the same location. Green Island has good bream and tailor. Fish Rock has fished well with some nice kingfish on the bite but there are a lot of undersize amongst them. Snapper, mac tuna and bonito are also about to keep you interested.
