Weekly Report 7/8/09

Blue-water fishermen had another good week outside with plenty of snapper, pearlies, morwong and the odd tusky brought back to the boat ramps. The snapper grounds off Grassy were productive with one of the best 5.5 kilos. There were plenty of nice pearlies out of the same location and the odd samson fish. Out wider around The Dot produced good pearlies and some big morwong. There are still heaps of leatherjackets to catch if you want them. Fish Rock has a few kingfish and snapper while big sea bream have been around Black Rock. Rocks in Line has been a hot spot for leatherjackets. Live bait have been in good numbers but squid and pilchards are working well on the reef fish.
There were a few more blackfish caught over the last week along the walls but still not the amount of travellers we would normally have. Good numbers were caught off the North Breakwall and over at The Cut-through. Bream are about but a lot are just under size. Clybucca and Rainbow Reach at first light have been productive. Better numbers of flathead are starting to appear in the river with some good results on plastics and hard lures in the shallow water. If live bait is your go there are plenty of herring about.
Rockhoppers are pulling some big drummer off the ledges in the near-perfect conditions. Some nice tailor and salmon are also being caught. Beach fishos to get a feed. Gap Beach had some tailor and salmon while Smoky Beach had a few bream and a heap of small whiting in the surf.
