Weekly Report 25/6/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 25, 2010 2:56 pm

If you can get outside, rug up and have a morning out there. Good numbers of fish are being caught from the close grounds at Grassy to about 60 meters. Nice snapper to 3 kilo have been fairly common with some ripper pearl perch and morwong being caught. Leatherjackets are in big schools from about 60 meters pretty well all down the coast. Fish Rock has had some great kingfish action with some up to 20 kilo being hooked on knife jigs and live bait. Rocks in Line and wider is fishing well for morwong, pearl perch and jackets. Good bream have been off Green Island with a good run of tailor in close along the coast.
The river has also been producing big bream along the walls during the change of tides with pilchards working well. Tailor are at the end of the wall with early morning your peak time. A few GTs have been reported up to about 3 kilo. Flathead are still about on the flats taking a variety of plastics and fish baits. Jerseyville bridge has been a hot spot for bream, soapy jew and flathead around the pylons. SWR local Douglas Walker caught a ripper 1.4 kilo bream on pilchard bait out of Back Creek.
It continues to be a productive time for the rock hoppers with good numbers of tailor still about with the odd salmon in the mix. Hat Head down to Point Plomer has been fishing extremely well for tailor.
Smoky Beach has whiting, bream, salmon and Tailor in fair numbers while Gap has some nice bream and the odd flathead coming in off the beach.
