Weekly Report 16/7/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jul 16, 2010 12:24 pm

We had a few wild and woolly days last week that kept outside fishos at home. There were some nice snapper caught north of Grassy last week in about 50m with the odd pearl perch as well. The water has been a little green with an unusual amount of sharks around. There are heaps of leatherjackets around once you get into 60m. One or two good kings were caught around Fish Rock with the odd snapper. Tailor are still in good numbers but it has been rough in close to the rocks. Rocks in Line has some morwong, pearlies and small reds.
There were some nice bream caught off the North Wall last week on the incoming tide drifting. The end of the breakwall is producing tailor early in the morning with the odd good bream hitting the pilchards. Blackfish were in better numbers through the week but at this stage the bigger ones are hard to find. The Cut and the North Wall are producing nice blackfish as well. Jerseyville has had some bream, jew and GTs about with only the odd flathead reported in their usual haunts. Smithtown is producing good bream at the moment under the bridge.
Rockhoppers have been into some nice tailor and bream with a few blackfish in the mix. The odd jew is being caught in front of the Lighthouse as well. Smoky Beach has a few bream and tailor coming in with some big salmon that will test your gear out.
• Special: Finn Nor Jig and Spin rods $210 – shop around, this is a very hot price while stocks last.
