Weekly Report 6/8/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:21 pm

It seems we can’t put a few good days together for the blue-water fishos to get out there in some sort of comfort. For those who don’t mind the slop, snapper are on the bite off Grassy and Scotts with 2 to 3 kilo fish in fair numbers. Pearl perch and big morwong are about around the same locations. Fish Rock has had some kingfish about with the odd snapper in the sloppy conditions. Rocks in Line has some nice pearl perch and morwong while leatherjackets are still in good numbers if you want them. Green Island has some good tailor around it readily taking a trolled lure.
Blackfish were patchy again last week with the North Wall and Kemps Corner the most productive. Along the South Wall from the Jew Bite to the Fence, fishos are battling to get the float pulled down. Bream are on the bite along the walls with some nice fish up to a kilo. In front of the Tavern has produced a few good flathead on herring and pilchards. Through the Cut Through on the flats towards Stuarts Point, the guys are also finding some nice flathead.
Tailor off the rocks are still in good numbers with some quality fish amongst them. There have been a few drummer about with bream and blackfish while the odd jewfish has been caught off the ledges.
Smoky Beach has bream and tailor in good numbers with reports of one or two jewfish out of the surf. Gap Beach reports tailor, salmon and some flathead in the close white water taking 4” plastics.
Special: Finn Nor Jig and Spin rods $210, shop around, this is a very hot price while stocks last.
