Weekly Report 27/8/10

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Aug 26, 2010 2:26 pm

Wind has been the fisher’s worst enemy over the last week, especially if you choose to fish wide. Some nice pearl perch have been on the bite off Grassy and Scotts. Snapper and trag have been in fair numbers out of the same location but can be a little patchy. If you are fishing wider, leatherjackets are still about with the odd big morwong in the deeper water. Bonito and tailor have been a little tougher to get in close along the rocks trolling lures. Not many reports from Fish Rock and Black Rock last week apart from a few bonito, small snapper and the odd king around the rock.
The dud blackfish season continues with another patchy week along the wall. There are still twos and threes about with fishos trying all phases of the tide to get a luderick. There have been a few nice bream taking fish bait along the breakwall. We have weighed in a couple of ripper flathead over the week, while the location remains a mystery it is a good sign of fish to come as the water warms. School jew are in fair numbers up river as far as Kinchela with the odd whiting as well biting on live worms.
Rock Hoppers have struggled, getting salmon, tailor and bream. North Smoky has a few tailor while the Lighthouse has a few salmon, tailor and the odd drummer. Smoky Beach has been fishing well for bream, salmon and tailor with one or two whiting starting to show up.
Don’t forget the Seabreeze Hotel Fishing Comp is on this weekend so get your entries in and have a go for some great prizes.
