URGENT: Fish Rock and Green Island will be lost to fishers unless you join the fight to save our right to fish this area. Please take a stand! Send letters or preferably emails to Peter Gallagher at Peter.gallagher@industry.nsw.gov.au or Bill Talbot, Director of Fisheries Conservation and Aquaculture, NSW Industry &Investments Locked Bag 1, Nelson Bay NSW 2315. You can call direct to the Fisheries Minister Steve Whan’s office on 02 9228 3800 and lodge your objection. The fight has begun we don’t have much time and desperately need your help.
Fish Rock is fishing well for kings up to 6kg along with some nice snapper. Bonito are in good numbers as well. Sean Morgan fished the northern reefs for a bag of nice pearl perch. The grounds off Grassy have been producing fair snapper with the odd trag. We had our first in close sighting of a small black marlin off the Jail.
The river is fishing OK but it’s still brown. Jewfish have been on the chew. Schoolies are in good numbers from Jerseyville to the mouth. There were whispers the Mottee boys landed a couple of big jew around the wall, we’re waiting on confirmation. Whiting are about in the river with good numbers up towards Kinchela.
The beaches have been hot and cold with Smoky holding bream and whiting one day with the next day a desert along the gutters. Gap Beach has a few whiting biting live worms. Rockhoppers are having mixed results with a few bream, bonito and the odd tailor.
