Weekly Report 5/11/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 05, 2010 2:53 pm

The bar here at the Rocks has been pretty angry all week. The few guys that have ventured over have come back with some nice fish. Good numbers of pearl perch are about on the northern reefs, not big but quality table fish. A few squire off Grassy with some nice trag coming in again this week. Now the seas are slowly abating more fishos will head out to the FAD where a few dolphin fish were caught a couple of weeks ago. Bonito and mac tuna are taking trolled lures from the Jail to Fish Rock. Kings are being caught around the Rock in fair numbers with the odd snapper in close. Rocks in Line is fishing well for morwong, jew and snapper.
If you are size whiting, head up to Smithtown and fish back down with live worms for almost guaranteed results. If you haven’t tried surface poppers worked fast for unbelievable action, have a go while the whiting are aggressive. The North Wall has been fishing well for school jew and flathead on the drift with a few good bream. Whiting and bream have been around Clybucca while flathead are jumping all over whitebait and mullet off Stuarts Point.
Smoky Beach has whiting with a few bream and dart. Gap Beach also has a few whiting taking worms on the north end.
Rockhoppers are getting some small kings from the Jail to the Lighthouse with plenty of bonito for a bit of fun.
The fight for Fish Rock is well and truly on, call us for updates or how you can help us.
